Title:   Shuttle Passage In Silver - Grand Central

Description:   Here's another view, this time in silver (metallic print?), of the Shuttle Passage in Grand Central Station, New York. I love the lady with the stroller. I took this picture for the 100th Birthday Grand Centennial in 2013. It was published, along with the other photos of Grand Central that I'm posting here, as part of an article to mark this great occasion. This is the passageway to the shuttle that goes crosstown. This old train station never fails to impress me with its magnificent arches, passageways, and architecture. The lighting is especially nice in sepia tones or black and white, so that you can concentrate on the beauty of the building itself and the people within. These photos make a beautiful series if you are interested in the history of trains or of Grand Central Station or New York City. Several together make a lovely grouping of wall art.

Title:   Grand Old Clock - Grand Central Station New York

Description:   This Grand Old Clock has had a home at Grand Central Station in New York City for over 100 years now - one of the world's most famed centenarians, it may be argued, presenting a welcoming face to the thousands of visitors that walk through the station every day.

Title:   Woman In Grand Central

Description:   There is something about a train station ... in this case, a woman caught in a moment in-between other moments - she waits, perhaps, for a friend or acquaintance to arrive, or perhaps she is lost. Just another day in Gotham.

Title:   Up The Down Staircase - Escalator At New Yorks Grand Central Station At Rush Hour

Description:   Seems like we're always rushing around in New York City; life and our modern pace make that necessary, yet once on the train, we're able to enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet, maybe even a quick nap, before we arrive at the station. Here in Grand Central Terminal, it's always been hurry up and hurry up some more.

Tribute To Leger - Building With Modern Zigzag Decoration

Description:

This postery rendition of what you would typically see on a New York City street while trying to make the next light includes many elements of what we think of as so "New York" - the bright yellow taxi (with its modern "T"), graffiti gracing the side of a truck, chunky old buildings with the hint of a modern skyscraper in the background. Somewhere in my mind, Fernand Leger lurks.

Yellow Cab One - New York City Street Scene
Description:

This yellow cab stands out in the city, even though this image IS in black and white. It's a cheery note to a weary traveler, should you need one in a hurry.

New York City Streets - Yellow Cab Three
Description:

The solidity of this yellow cab seems to anchor itself to the greys and whites of this urban landscape; the delicate outlines of these tall buildings are lacey and airy, compared to this blocky little vehicle, so tank-like in its appearance. What else would you expect to navigate the streets of a metropolis?

Title:  Old And New In New York - Vintage Architecture With Modern Bank

Description:   Old and New never clash in New York; it is a natural progression for vintage to blend into modern, sometimes for the sake of commerce, sometimes to accommodate the needs of all the newcomers to this storied city.

Title:  Outside The Garden III - Madison Square Garden

Description:  Another moment frozen in time, in brightest sun. A man in his own world checks his phone as another walks by, perhaps on his way to a gym. A hot dog vendor waits for the lunchtime crowd soon to descend. All the while, the sun illuminates the characters on this stage. Just another day outside Madison Square Garden.

Title:  Loading The Truck II - People At Work In New York City Street Scene

Discription:  I love the crazy quilt of colors that appear when you look at an everyday scene in a completely new way; my camera and my computer enable me to create art out of an average scene that you might normally not give much thought to ... but the magic of technology can bring hidden, jewel-like facets to light. So much of what I see begins to look like cut-glass, seen through a brilliant prism that breaks down every scene into its component colors.

Title:  I Love New York Decals

Discription:  Nothing says "I Love New York" like saying it a million times, in a million different ways. There is no shortage of how to say it here in the Big Apple! This would look cool as an iPhone or other cellphone case.

Title:  Lotto Smokeshop - New York City Street Scene - People Of New YorK

Discription:  This family is frozen in time, even though it is midsummer and it is a hot day in the city. Each seems wrapped in his or her own thoughts; a children's ride and a winter sled seem out of place in this tableau, or are they? Just another day in the twilight zone.

Title:  Empire State Building - An Ode To Romance:

Discription:  Funny how buildings of steel and stone can touch and melt our hearts, given the right light, the right mood, and the right person standing right next to us. The timeless beauty of the Empire State Building has stood witness to many a romance, tailor-made in The City. Just another misty night on the streets of New York. Re-posted here as part of these romantic images.

Title:  On The Town - Fleet Week In New York City

Description:  Fleet Week, New York, NY. An event   to be anticipated each year, as our sailors come to   town to go on the town. The city just wouldn't be   the same without them; here, a small group of our   navy personnel stands outside Pennsylvania   Station, Penn for short, about to enjoy an evening,   as commuters hurry for their trains. Just another   holiday in New York!

Title:  Little Italy Windows With Italian Flag

Description:  Little Italy, New York City, has many   fine restaurants, and is especially colorful with red,   white and green banners and flags during the   Festival of San Gennaro. This was not taken at   that time, but during a foggy day downtown, before   I went on the air for a radio interview about being   a photographer in New York City!

Title:  City Corner No. 4 - New York City Street  Scene

Description:  Here is another view of one of my   favorite street corners in the city. I don't know why   certain places attract me; this one just seems to   have so many elements that make a scene   "urban" - the yellow taxi, the old brick building, the   yellow traffic light, and the ever-present water   tower. All of this says "I am New York," to me. I   return again and again to some of these places   and try to see them in different lights and times of   day, all the better to understand just what is "New   York."
